Региональное отделение «Опоры России» по Сахалинской области выступает в защиту жителей Корсакова, отстаивающих право на сохранение памятника морякам крейсера «Новик», установленного в портовом Корсакове. Через месяц после открытия мемориала муниципальные власти заявили организаторам, что установка прошла незаконно и воздвигнутый памятник необходимо заменить на памятный камень, который стоял на этом месте раньше.
Председатель Сахалинской «Опоры России» Юрий Дьяков назвал позицию муниципальных властей Корсакова недопустимой и противоречащей принципам патриотизма, необходимым для современного общества.
— Общество, которое отвергает принципы патриотизма и предпочитает забывать о героических подвигах своих предков, обречено. Далеко ходить за примерами не приходится – нынешняя ситуация на Украине позволяет понять, что для полного забвения исторических аспектов достаточно всего 25-ти лет. Очевидно, что такие ситуации, в которой оказались корсаковцы, необходимо выносить для широкого диалога. Не следует забывать, что организаторы устройства памятника – это простые жители, прихожане местной церкви, которые долгие годы совместно собирали средства на создание этого памятника. Очевидно, что муниципальные власти и мэр Корсакова Лада Мудрова должны были пойти навстречу горожанам-патриотам, и помочь им в прохождении всех бюрократических процедур, – отметил Юрий Дьяков.
Представители инициативной группы не могут найти объективных причин, почему памятник, как символ исторического наследия Корсакова, вызвал такую реакцию местной администрации. Ведь бюджет города не потратил на это ни единого рубля.
Отметим также, что открытие памятника прошло в конце августа этого года и было приурочено к 110-летию с момента затопления крейсера в прибрежных водах Корсакова. Автором памятника стал известный островной скульптор, заслуженный художник России Владимир Чеботарев.
Крейсер «Новик» получил широкую известность во времена русско-японской войны. Легендарное сражение с противником – японскими крейсерами «Цусима» и «Читосе», во много превосходящими по боевой мощи, закончилось победой команды «Новика». Сильнейшие повреждения и надвигающаяся атака со стороны Японии привела к вынужденному решению о затоплении «Новика».

Уважаемая Галина! Отрадно, что гражданская позиция жителей Корсакова звучит в унисон с позицией Регионального отделения Сахалинской «Опоры России». Уверены, что внимание общественности, привлеченное к сложившейся ситуации, позволит местным властям и инициатором воздвижения памятника прийти к разумному консенсусу.
Уже есть опровержение намерений корсаковской власти в отношении демонтажа памятника. А каким образом подается позиция мэра после вышедших публикаций в ряде СМИ, можно узнать из общественно-политической газеты «Восход», отражающей политику местной власти в Корсакове. Так, в номере 76 за 4 октября появилась статья И. Гусева, который проводит совсем иную линию поведения Л.Б.Мудровой, утверждая, что она вовсе не против нового памятника. Если бы тут можно было загрузить фото текста статьи, я бы это сделала.
